I'm trying to get the model importer to work, but I can't figure it out. I've followed the instructions given by "the Mask," and tried numerous other trouble shooting techniques suggested by other users on SWR, including manually inputing model .bin and .x files through Resource Hacker, yet nothing seems to be working. My computer is vista 32 bit, if that makes any difference. Here's an example of what happens when I try using model importer, and also when I manually input models via Resource Hacker:

With model importer, say I want to import the Viscount ship from the SWR website- I copy the file info into my import file (all .bin and .x files included in the download at once), making sure to adjust close.x, medium.x, and far.x if they are listed differently, run "rmodimp_win", and a number of different things happen:

- a blank dos window opens briefly and closes and I am taken to the selection of models from which I am to replace an original; after clicking the ship I wish to replace, a window pops up with the following message: "Replacement complete !" and below that it says to check the "_logfile.txt" if there were any problems.

-or, for example, when trying to upload the winged mc80 model, the dos window stays open and I am prompted to select from the following: "Archive: ./import/winged_mc80.rmd replace ./import/mc80a_f.bin? [y]es, [n]o, [A]ll, [N]one, [r]ename:" From here I can continue to click "y" for each of the prompts and an "inflating" message will follow ("inflating: ./import/mc80a_m.bin") for all the .bin and .x files (I get an error message with the first of the .x files- "error: cannot create ./import/readme.chm"), or "A" to automatically select all. Either way, the box for model replacement appears, I select the model I wish to replace, the replacement complete message appears, and yet there is no new model in RebEd or in the game itself.

- and finally, when I attempt to manually input the data through Resource Hacker, I can't save the updated info to TACTICAL.DLL- an error message appears saying that the .dll file can't be overwritten.

The rmodimp.txt is set at the following: "location=..\tactical.dll
saveas=..\tactical.dll"

If anyone has any suggestions, I would really like to try the game with these other models. I've tried everything I know to do. Thanks.
